What is it?
An Interview-Only Survey generates fast turnaround information about major manager and employee concerns during periods of rapid change; e.g., post-major organization change, during or after downsizing, etc.
Why do it?
An Interview-Only Survey enables an organization to immediately:
- Determine employee perceptions of the current problems and opportunities within the organization, and to solicit specific suggestions on how these might be best addressed.
- Read employee response to company leadership, and to fine-tune the design, implementation and communication of the next waves of change.
- Provide an opportunity for employees to upwardly consult and be involved in the architecture of change.
When to do it?
When a precise insight is needed and only extremely rapid turnaround is acceptable.
How does it work?
A random stratified sample of employees is interviewed in a semi-structured format, both individually and in small groups; the major findings are reported to management immediately. Though the numbers of employees involved and the level of detail are both less than in a comprehensive questionnaire-based survey, he technique is ideally suited to crisis situations where qualitative information on the major "boulders" is needed quickly.
