Benchmarks fill in the blanks
Without benchmarks, it would be easy to misinterpret survey results or misdirect your survey follow-up activities. By using our normative database, you can draw accurate conclusions from your survey data. The norms put survey results in context, allowing you to compare your data with the data sets that matter most to your organization. Whether you’d like to see how your results stack up against those of industry competitors, organizations in the same country, or companies demonstrating the highest performance levels, Towers Perrin-ISR’s norms deliver.
Whatever benchmark you need, we probably have it
Towers Perrin-ISR’s unrivaled normative database has over 200 distinct norms and is continually evolving, based on our growing customer base and clients’ specific needs. We maintain norms in the following general areas:
- Global Norms, including a broad array of industries and a number of functions
- Regional and National Norms, covering the world’s largest economies and representing all corners of the globe
- High Performance Norms, comprising data from organizations demonstrating (1) above-average financial performance in their industry and (2) effective people management, as shown by strongly favorable employee opinions across a broad range of issues
- Demographic Norms, based on race and gender, for a number of top economies
- Job-Level Norms, including hourly vs. salaried and different levels of management
Norms you can use with confidence
You can rely on Towers Perrin-ISR’s norms for both currency and accuracy. High-quality benchmarks like ours share three common characteristics:
- Weighted data. As needed, we weight the data by industry – make it proportionately larger or smaller relative to the whole – so that different industries do not dominate the norms out of proportion to their presence in a given economy.
- Independent research. If our own data are insufficient to meet our high quality standards, we commission the needed research. For some of the country norms, we augment our own data with independent research consisting of opinions from a random sample of employees in a country. This allows us to create more robust and representative norms for some of the world’s smaller economies.
- Updated annually. Our norms are updated each year, reflecting new data sets from resurveying clients and results from new clients.
Core questions within a customized, not standardized, survey. Towers Perrin-ISR’s surveys are designed to yield the key insights in the areas where our clients need them most. We then add to those tailored questions a set of core normative questions that relate to the each client’s specific needs. These core questions form the basis of our normative database and allow our clients to make critical comparisons.
